My New Laptop, 11″ MacBook Air

11" macbook air

I never thought I would ever purchase a MacBook Air. Since its release, I’ve seen it as more of a fashion statement than a worthy machine. For me, the lack of an optical drive was a sign of progress (even though that also meant I didn’t have room for a second internal hard drive). It was the slow processor speed, slow iPod hard drive, low storage capacity, and ridiculously insane price tag that allowed me to easily avoid it. Three years later, the ultra-thin mobile computer has really grabbed my attention. I’ve decided to move away from the 15″ MacBook Pro and all its glory and gpu for the new mid-2011 11″ MacBook Air. I’m glad I did…

Leria’s Birthday Weekend

happy birthday leria

This past Saturday I had the opportunity to shoot photos at birthday party. The party took place in a dual-floor hotel room, so space was limited. Having to deal w/ tables, walls, lamps, couches & doorways behind my subjects, I did my best to make use of the available lighting/space and managed to grab a few decent shots. READ MORE

Goodbye, 15″ MacBook Pro

15" macbook pro i5

“We’ve had some great times…graphics, video editing, blogging, gaming. Wow, the list goes on…”

I will miss you just like I miss my 13″ MacBook Pro of 2009, my very first unibody. I met you when I needed a more capable machine for video editing. One that possessed a discrete graphics card. Initially, I was intimidated by your larger footprint over my 13″. Despite your extra weight and bulk, I adapted quickly. We’ve done a nice amount of Photoshop, Premiere Pro & After Effects together, and I will never forget that I learned the latter two with you.

Smyrna High Graduation – 2011

“Smyrna High School. Smyrna, DE. 6/4/11″ EF 50mm 1.8 II, 1/50, f/1.8, ISO 250

Last weekend was Donte & Kelly’s wedding, this weekend was the Smyrna High graduation and a graduation party for a friend of mine. I had a busy weekend and ended up w/ 496 photos to go through and develop. In the end, I kept 154 (100 – graduation, 54 – grad party). Overall it was a fun experience.

Stefan’s Graduation Party

“There was a huge turnout & the party showed plenty of potential once these people started moving!”
EF 50mm 1.8 II, 1/200, f/1.8, ISO 400

Enter the world of teenagers. A bunch of people that see each other at school every day but then act shy around each other at a social event late in the pm. I’ll never understand that,. I would’ve gotten way more pics & video than I did if this was a club in a city. Oh well, I obtained some decent shots. READ MORE

Donté & Kelly’s Wedding

“My first wedding is in the books!”
EF-S 18-55mm IS, 1/13, f/3.5, ISO 800

A former coworker of mine was hired to film a wedding (he uses an XH-A1) and thought as much as to hire me to help out w/ by shooting additional footage and photos w/ my DSLR. Since I’ve been hired directly to shoot a wedding at the end of June, I figured I could use the experience. Also by being the “backup man”, a little of the pressure I would have felt if I was “front-lining” my first major event was no longer there. A long story short, I jumped at the opportunity. There was no reason not to; I could benefit from the experience, networking & by earning a few bucks. READ MORE

Judgement Day Prediction…Wrong

“So the rapture was supposed to occur yesterday evening at 6p…yea right.”

I respect my elders, but I have to say Harold Camping is a true idiot. Any man that tries to predict the return of Jesus Christ after he already said that no man, angel or even Jesus himself knows the exact time is ludicrous. Not only is this his second miscalculation based on his so-called biblical math system, he has now claimed that October 21, 2011 is now the correct date of the rapture of the saints. READ MORE

MAY ’11 Progress Pic…None?

“Yep, I’ve decided not to post a picture for the month of May.”

I haven’t had enough time for four to five workouts per week, so I started falling behing. My sleep schedule is still not what it should be. I’m still playing basketball and started running on the treadmill again. My diet is probably the only thing that hasn’t slowed. So, I’ve decided not to post progress pics for May and maybe June. A Simple Dunk (video)

“I kept tell’n myself that I need to put up basketball videos…”

So, I was playing one-on-one at the YMCA yesterday. My opponent took a shot that bounced wild off the back iron and out towards the perimeter. We chased down the ball and I obtained possession. Since it was already near the outside line, I took a step back to clear the ball and then broke down the open lane towards the rim. He was a half step behind me and since he blocked a previous lay-up attempt I decided to take it up strong. As I elevated, his head was right by my left shoulder…perfect. I threw the ball through the rim and descended. Crown me… READ MORE

My First 3DS Experience

“Finally got a chance to experience Nintendo’s next-gen portable!”
EF-S 18-55mm IS, 1/10, f/6.3, ISO 100

It’s been a while since I bought a system at launch. It may be because there hasn’t been any new consoles or portables in the last 5 years (remakes excluded), but now that I’m older my money goes elsewhere. Knowing that I wouldn’t be purchasing the 3DS anytime soon, I knew I still had to get my hands on it to see if it was worthy of all the hype. So, in my spare time, I visited a GameStop in Northeast Philadelphia to check it out.
